The University of Wisconsin Whitewater hosted the Region 3 Collegiate Soil judging contest from October 10-13, 2017. Six schools completed in the individual and team contest. The schools that attended were UW-Stevens Point, UW-Platteville, Purdue University, University of Illinois, Ball State University and Illinois State University. The winning school for overall team score was Purdue University followed by UW- Platteville and UW-Stevens Point. Jeremy Ziegler and Karla Petges soil scientists from the WI-NRCS judged the practice and contest pits. The soil pits were made up of different glacial parent materials from drumlins, ground marines and lacustrine deposits.
