Purpose
The purpose of the WSPSS Scholarship Program is to encourage qualified students to increase their interest in soil
science and to prepare them for a career in soil science, soil conservation, or a related natural resource field through
a program of study at a University of Wisconsin system institution.
Eligibility
Applications for WSPSS scholarships will be accepted from sophomore, junior, or first semester senior students in
good academic standing enrolled in soil science or a related curriculum at a University of Wisconsin system
institution. The application package must demonstrate an emphasis in soil science in order to receive consideration.
Amount
Two (2) five hundred dollar ($500.00) scholarships will be awarded. Scholarship winners will also receive a
complimentary two (2) year membership to the Wisconsin Society of Professional Soil Scientists.

Deadline
Applicants should submit a completed application form, with a copy (need not be certified) of college transcript, by
March 15, 2012.
Scholarship Presentation
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the WSPSS spring meeting and presentation of the scholarship awards
will be made at that time; recipients are highly encouraged to attend the meeting to receive their award. However,
if the recipient is unable to attend, scholarship awards will be mailed following the meeting.
